go slow and take your time. I used a wood toothpick to try and scrape enough loose at the end to try and pull it off. The toothpick didn't scratch the paint any. Did it sitting on my rolling stool so it went pretty quick. Hopefully you're right about it not being on long, because it could leave a noticeable difference in paint color.
